How’s your energy?

Do you ever wake up to a day that you can’t seem to get ahead of? You know, you wake up annoyed, everything feels off, and you can’t seem to shake it? It is easy to be reactive when everything feels like it is happening to you. We have tools to break the reactive cycle!

One of our business heroes, Zingerman’s created a recipe for energy management. It is worth the time investment to listen to the webinar and how the energy recipe has impacted their business from customer experience to profitability.

We believe in taking responsibility for our energy. There are three main types of energy: physical, emotional/mental, and vibrational.

Physical energy is how your body feels. How many hours of sleep did you have last night? When did you last eat? Are you exercising regularly and drinking enough water?

Emotional/ mental energy is the love of the job, the people, and the projects. A negative interaction with a client. Feeling too busy, over-scheduled, and overwhelmed. When you are stressed, anxious, excited, and hopeful all at the same time.

Vibrational energy is hard to articulate but easy to feel. It is the “buzz” in a busy coffee shop with smiling faces, the smell of glazed pastries, and hushed conversations. The warmth when the waiter at your favorite restaurant brings you your cocktail as you sit down. The way your heart sings with generosity when you give freely.

The energy recipe has four steps:

1. Read it.

Check in on yourself. Rate your energy on a scale of 1-10.

Ten is the best version of you when the bluebirds are singing and tying a ribbon in your hair as you walk out the door. One is the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

2. Vision it.

Where do you want your energy to be at the end of the day?

3. Manage it.

What are small steps you can take to raise your energy in the next hour? What decisions can I make today to have higher energy tomorrow? What can I delegate so that I can have more energy?

4. Repeat.

Read, vision, and manage as many times as you need.

You cannot use the recipe too many times in a day. Try utilizing the energy recipe at least once a day for a week and see how your energy shifts from reactive to proactive. We’d love to hear from you.
