My Entrepreneurial Journey: Discovering Depth and Purpose
If you're an entrepreneur, you understand that this path can be a lonely one. At times, it may seem glamorous, filled with exciting opportunities to travel, meet incredible people, and explore new places. However, beneath the surface, there are moments of solitude, self-doubt, overwhelming stress, and a nagging feeling of inadequacy.
In a season of overwhelm, I sought out part-time work. At the beginning it was just to escape the emptiness of my home office, and a break away from the computer. Honestly, to work 20 hours with other people felt like a break!
That change of pace turned out to be quite refreshing. Having a reason to get up, get dressed, and engage with the world was a welcoming shift. It also lifted the financial burden and provided me with a season of space and reflection.
What began as a part-time job soon transformed into a full-time opportunity that not only expanded my skill set but also showed me that the creativity I had discovered and harnessed through photography was not confined to the camera in my hand.
That full-time job allowed me to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, as I began to offer virtual support to the company, guiding them through major pivots and changes.
Little did I know that this seemingly simple decision to work outside my home office would lead to a profound journey of self-discovery. Because of that part-time job, I uncovered a new dimension within myself. The skills and experiences I gained paved the way for me to offer Business Support and eventually launch AMAR Virtual Services.
Fast forward to a year, and we've grown to support nine clients on a monthly basis!
While this journey has been filled with its share of highs and lows, the driving force I come back to again and again going on 14 years as a business owner, has been the unwavering connection to my "why."
This "why" has been my guide during moments of uncertainty. It helps me discern between opportunities that are a "no" or pause and those that elicit a resounding "hell yes!"
I've come to realize that there is immense power in self-discovery and self-reflection. I've spent more time understanding how I work, what I bring to the table, and what makes me unique, rather than trying to keep up with the latest marketing trends or gadgets.— (in times where I have been distracted by trends, or the comparison game, it has only left me drained and more overwhelmed)
Embracing who I am, authentically and unapologetically, has allowed me to show up exactly as I should. In this space I know the right clients will meet me there. It's also a reminder that every season my business goes through is precisely where it's meant to be.
